Instead of Ronaldo, Man Utd competed to buy Arsenal’s target

Both Arsenal and Man Utd need to strengthen in attack, and will spend heavily in the next summer of 2022.

Arsenal tried to recruit Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak in the January transfer window, but failed when the La Liga club shouted at the price. For the summer transfer window, the race for Isak promises to be very exciting, with Chelsea and Man Utd both joining the race.

Alexander Isak is a striker full of potential.

The 22-year-old was spotted in London in January, but simply for a trip away from Spain, not to negotiate a contract with Arsenal.

According to The Mirror, Man Utd see Isak as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo if CR7 leaves in the summer . While Chelsea can continue to strengthen the front line if Romelu Lukaku cannot explode this season.

Isak has a £75m buyout clause in his contract until 2026, meaning Sociedad is not under selling pressure. Despite persistent links with Arsenal during the transfer window, Isak remains unconcerned and claims that he is simply focused on his team.

Besides Isak, Man Utd are also interested in Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, but Isak could be a more realistic option for the Red Devils in the context they are currently struggling. This also depends in part on who the newcomer to the hot seat at Old Trafford is.
